VW future in terms of design

Rating: |  Comments: 4  |  Posted on Saturday, August 09, 2008

What should we expect from the former Audi designer after his promotion to the VW Group?

We can see the differences right off the bat by looking at the upcoming release of the VW Golf VI - the shield grille is no longer part of the new design and the lights now have a clearly pronounced trapezoidal shape. The VW Polo is also scheduled for a complete redesign from scratch in the upcoming year. The Beetle, however, is not on the list of cars that are getting a makeover this year but Beetle-lovers would find it interesting to know that, thanks to market demand, VW is considering offering new comfort and performance packages for the car.

In the upper-class cars - this fall VW is releasing the Passat CC and also a facelift is in the works for the Passat that is expected no earlier than 2011. As some of you might know, future US versions of the Passat and the Jetta will be produced at the VW plant at Chattanooga, TN. The next generation of Passat is expected to become larger matching the size of Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. And as for the Jetta, the vehicle will transform to a size similar to Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

And now for the most expected model – “Up”. According to Volkswagen, this car should begin the transition towards their concepts of "VW Vision 2028". In general “Up” will be small city car especially designed to have a highly configurable interior.

I hope that the future doesn't look like this.

The Up! is just a concept but I like the body shape. I do not like the big front hole under the lights, but I am sure VW will do something about it. Just remember that VW is the peoples car.

I think that VW is slowly getting away from the "people car" motto. Remember that Nike G is expecting a VW domination in the Roadsters segment. For me they should try to rebirth a legendary Bettle not loosing time for thinkig of such "miserable" looking so called vehicles.

Some people should understand that Volkswagen brings the latest innovations, high class features and design to level at which middle class society could afford the luxury.
