VW Roadster?
|
 |
Based on the recent rumors VW is getting ready to shock the world again with a new car concept almost ready for production which would rival Lotus Elise and will be used as the base for rumored (and always denied by Audi) Audi R4.
VW produces cars for the masses and speculations point to a roadster concept aimed exactly for these masses with affordable price, fuel efficiency and balanced performance.
One thing which is not clear is which of the recent concepts could this car be based on and is it at all based on a already shown design (due to the uncertainty at this time we are showing both concept galleries).
Sources suggest that the coupe will feature either a 168 hp, 1.4-liter TSI gasoline engine or a 125 hp, 1.6-liter TDI mounted amidships and sending power to the rear wheels via a seven speed DSG gearbox. If and when the production version debuts in 2011, the coupe's curb weight is pegged at just over 2,200 pounds, allowing it to run to 60 in under seven seconds while still returning over 55 mpg.
Those who are aware of the VW ownership of Audi know that if this new concept is used for a production version of a car then most certainly it will find its place with a different badge of course in Audi and Porsche (since Porsche now owns most of VW)

In terms of EcoRacer (the yellow model) you could have bonnet, boot-lid and doors made from carbon-fiber plastic.

I am the only one who can't make connection between these two words "Volkswagen" and "Roadster". Let them produce Golf and leave the real cars for other companies :)))

After Porsche acquire the control stake from Volkswagen the connection between those words will become quite obvious for everybody.

There are a lot of people with adventurous spirit that can't afford a Porsche roadster. Currently all these guys are forced to buy Honda S 2000 or Mazda Miata. Having Volkswagen roadster will make car makers competition much more interesting and beneficial for us - the customers.
