At the same time when the TT RS was undergoing testing in the American desert, another highly-anticipated upcoming car from Audi was snapped by spy photographers – the RS5. The Audi A5 is already one of the most beautiful coupes out on the market, but the RS5 is going to kick it up a few notches in terms of both aggressive design and performance.

As it can be seen from the spy shots the RS5 carries some of the signature RS design traits, the fog lights on the front fascia have been removed to make room for extra breathing ducts to cool the engine and the breaks. Silver side mirrors are also present. The only missing exterior cue at this point is the absence of the signature RS oval tailpipes which on these pictures are still in the form of the quad-tailpipes from the S5.

What’s going to go under the hood is still a mystery, however we are hoping that Audi will use the same monster-engine as in the RS6, the 5.0L twin-turbo V-10 from the RS6 that pumps out 580 hp and 480 lb-ft. This engine has already proven to be extremely tuner-friendly and probably many aftermarket tuner companies are itching to get their hands on this car.

The RS5 is expected to be out for the 2010 model year.
